Alan McLean

Alan McLean was born in Nuneaton and completed his studies in the historical city of Lincoln. He has worked in industries as diverse as Education, Signage, Cleaning and even Chimney Sweeping. Employed as a freelance writer for international ghost walking company, Mysterium Tours, McLean found himself exploring the darker chapters of European History.

McLean’s unique writing style makes the Past accessible by boldly embellishing interesting details, whilst simultaneously glossing over the mundane. His debut novel, “A Casual Historian presents The Early Plantagenets” is a book for people who like to buy History books but never normally finish reading them.

During the day, McLean can be found walking in the Staffordshire countryside with his wife Laura and his Border Collie, Loki. By moonlight though…expect to see this dark author prowling the marshlands with a shovel, looking to unearth skeletons from days gone by.
