Chris Parker talking with Stuart Leasor, founder of Chiselbury Publishing about his upcoming book 'Conversations with my Dog'.

A science-based, practical and philosophical guide to improving communication and influence, ‘Conversations with my Dog’ book has two unique points of difference.

Firstly, the author uses a series of stories and cartoons to introduce Sam, his 10-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, as his unlikely communications guru.

Secondly, he explains how meditation, silence and forgetfulness can be used to create the state from which we can influence powerfully, whilst emphasising the importance of conversations in creating our professional and personal life experience.

Throughout, the author provides numerous principles, processes, strategies, tactics and skills for improving our communication and so achieving our desired outcomes.

Early reviews of the book have said:

“Chris Parker is a hugely talented and experienced trainer and practitioner” Antionette Minniti, PhD., Wellbeing and Engagement Lead, High Performance Sport NZ.

“Chris Parker is a brilliant communicator and an inspiring teacher. I think you’re going to love this book.” Alan Barnard. Campaigner and storyteller. Former Director of Campaigns and Elections for the Labour Party.

  • A Faithful Spy by Jimmy Burns

A Faithful Spy by Jimmy Burns

“A remarkable, never disclosed story…” Peter Hennessy

“A must-read book for those interested in a personal drama at the frontline of international relations” Dr Calder Walton, author & historian“

“A rare look behind the scenes of British intelligence… this story is not only well-told but also true” Nicholas Reynolds, former CIA officer, New York Times bestselling author

Drawing on previously undisclosed personal papers, this biography of Walter Bell by award-winning author Jimmy Burns gives a remarkable insight into the working of British Intelligence. He was at heart of the emerging intelligence special relationship between Britain and America before, during and immediately after WW2 - the very time that MI6 had been penetrated by Russian intelligence. He was acquainted with Philby, Burgess and Maclean.

Moving to MI5 Bell had postings in Kenya, India, and the West Indies, playing a crucial role in the passing power of power to newly independent governments, and developing close ties with agents of influence at the highest levels in the former colonies, from journalists and judges to generals and independence heroes.

Back home he was intimately involved in operations to limit the reputation damage provoked by the media outcry over the Cambridge Five affair and suspected KGB misinformation about further alleged Soviet agents at the highest level of the British state.

He was rewarded for his service with a CMG and the US Medal of Freedom.

    Introducing the Aristo Autos SS100

JL50 is an SS Jaguar 100, commonly shortened to SS100.

The SS100 is widely considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing sporting cars of the 1930s.

JL50 was manufactured in February 1937 by SS Cars Ltd of Coventry, England. (In March 1945 the SS Cars shareholders agreed to change the name to Jaguar Cars Limited). It still has its original engine, gearbox and chassis. It was originally black but was repainted to its current British Racing Green in the early 1970s.

On test by the Autocar magazine in 1937 a 2½-litre SS100 was found, with the windscreen lowered, to have a maximum speed of 95 and a 0–60 mph time of 13.5 seconds.

    In 1937 it cost £395.

Built using traditional methods of alloy and steel panels laid across an ash wooden framework, it has a 2½-litre straight-6 overhead valve engine producing approximately 100 BHP and 4-speed gearbox.

It is one of only 198 2½-litre and 116 3½-litre models made.

It was purchased by author James Leasor in 1964 and ownership has remained in the same family ever since. It features prominently in some of his books.

On this channel we will be showing videos of JL50 on the roads of London and the surrounding countryside to try to give a feel of what it is like to drive and ride in a 1937 classic.
